About us.
We are a registered charity
Ofsted as required by the 1989 Children’s act inspects us every four years.
We are a committee run group
A copy of all our inspection reports are available for you to read and are situated in the foyer.
Who attends Kipling Lions?
We can accommodate 24 children per session aged between 2 and 11 years of age.
We do not insist your child is toilet trained all we ask is for you to supply clean nappies, wipes and nappy sacks and to take home the soiled nappy.
We are an equal opportunities company and endevour to include all children regardless of their needs.
Our Aims.
We will provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment. We will work within a framework, which insures equality for all children and families. We aim to meet all your child's individual needs. Physically, socially and intellectually. We will never discriminate against any child for whatever reason and welcome those with additional needs.
We have written policies on many issues a copy of which is in the foyer for you to read. If you require your own copy then we will willingly copy one for you but will have to charge £1 to cover cost. A copy of key policies is available on audiotape in the foyer if you wish to borrow.

We charge you till what time you have booked e.g. 4.30/ £3.15 if you are late we will round it up to the next 15 mins.
I f you are running late you must phone ahead and let us know what time we can expect you.
The charge will be £2 for every child per every 5 mins you are late.
You will be given one verbal warning then invoiced each time you are late.
What the children do through out the session
The children are picked up from school at 3.15pm. We collect the reception children from their teachers as they are taken up to the doors for leaving school.
The supervisor then waits outside the key stage one hall and tells the children to go inside the key stage one hall where a member of staff supervises them.
Please inform the class teacher that your child will be attending the After School Club. This is very important if your child normally meets you outside the school gates. It is also important that YOU tell us your child will not be attending After School Club and not your child telling us as this can cause a lot of confusion and we will have to contact you over the phone to confirm.
The children are walked over to the After school club. They come in take their coats off then come and sit on the carpet where register is taken. We also ask them what they would like for snack.
The children are free to play whilst snack is being prepared. We have colouring table, board games and a games console they can play whilst they wait.
We all sit down for the snack which can be toast or sandwich and sometimes we give them a plain biscuit. They are given squash to drink which is sugar free, but also have a choice of water or milk.
After everyone has finished snack, we have a planned activity that the children can join in. We also have a pool/snooker table, dance mat, table tennis and a football table. The children are free to do what they want. There is also a sand and water tray they can play with. We play group games and put on little talent shows.
How we are run
A committee that is made up of parents runs the after school club, and we must stress that without a full committee we cannot operate.
The committee decide on how the after school club is run and employ staff to operate the day to day running of the after school club. They decide as a whole on all aspects of things such as employment issues, increase in fees, fundraising events etc. They meet approximately once a half term and are always on the look out for new recruits. So if you are interested please look on our notice board for details of how to contact a committee member.
The committee are elected each year at the Annual General Meeting in October and stay as long as their child attends the group.
Why not come along to a meeting to see for yourself how things are done and maybe become a member yourself. It really can be a rewarding job; you will certainly make new friends and do something worthwhile that benefits your local community at the same time. You do not need any special skills it really is made up of people just like you.
At present our committee are-:
Chairperson: Ali Wells
Secretary: Tracey Davey
Treasurer: Kate Mcswiney/Mel Swainston
Members: Kerrie Saunders, Ursula Robinson, Kate Mcswiney, Cheryl Holden, Louise Elliot and new members joining throughout the year.
Please read the notice board regularly as the committee and staff uses this as a means of passing information on to you. Please feel free to speak to any committee member about issues you feel need discussing or are not happy about.
HOLIDAY PLAYSCHEMES
We run holiday play schemes each school holidays apart from Christmas time.
We charge by the hour which at the moment is £2.75 per hour. You can book anything from 3 hours to the full 7 hours. We need the payment for play schemes one week in advance of the booked sessions. You do not have a place at the play scheme until we have your payment.
When bringing your child to play schemes please wait in main foyer as this will be unlocked for you to wait in. We cannot let any child in before our opening times as we have to get the room ready and for insurance purposes.
We have planned activities at our play schemes and we work on themes. I.E Halloween, Disney, Easter, Magic week, Friendship week , waterfun week plus much more.
We like to do cooking with the children, such as preparing their mid morning snack. Sometimes they will bring cooking home.
The children enjoy face painting so when you are booked for the play scheme it is important you send back the permission slip that you are given to avoid disappointing the children. This will be sent with your booking confirmation.
We do lots of arts and crafts, dancing to music, talent shows, scavenger hunts and the children can choose what toys they would like to play with.
We always help the younger children and encourage them to join in. We adapt for the younger children so they can take part in everything. If they need quite time a member of staff will take them to the book corner and read them a story. The younger children really enjoy the play schemes and the older children are very welcoming and respectful of the younger ones.
We are always looking for new ideas, so if you have a service you could offer for the children, i.e. tye dying, dancing, flower making or anything you can think of please let us know, we would cover the cost of materials if not to costly.
If you have used the After School Club but not the play scheme then please feel free to pop in and have a look when we are running the play scheme to see what you think.
Rules and Regulations
We have to abide by the main schools rules, which are;
